I feel the same way. I think reading "The Magician's Nephew" at any point in the series would make very little difference. The book itself is a bit of a standalone, but you get a bit of a kick and a few 'a-ha' moments out of it if you've read "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" or seen the Narnia movies beforehand.
