Diane Klajbor I agree with your answer, Tracy. I have loved this series by Tana French, but The Secret Place has been a disappointment. It's the worst book in the series. I hope she goes back to writing as well as she did with the previous books. Thanks for your answer

Lisa Black I couldn't agree more--suddenly developing telekinesis, when it had absolutely nothing to do with anything else in the book, just came out distracting and plain silly.

Carrie Carteret Yes, I agree with you in both respects, Tracy - the magic adds nothing and the book is so long you forget who knew what when. Pity as very enjoyable to start with.

Tressa I was wondering the same thing too. I thought it was ridiculous.

Linda The paranormal element never gets resolved or plays a part in any of her novels, it's just there to keep us reading. Frankly, I'm glad it wasn't marketed like that, as they did with In The Woods, because then I was disappointed. I agree with you 100% on the editing, it did feel too long. But I actually liked this pair of detectives.

Eileen H. Agreed only I think lightening it by two hundred pages would make this a good book. The only reason I didn’t abandon it half way through was because I want’d to see if the appearance of Frank Mackey would improve it. He didn’t.
