That's what I wanted to say, too :-)
I have to disagree. While the Kubrick adaptation might be ambiguous, King's novel is not. In the novel, what's going on is not just in the protagonist's head - the supernatural is very real.
Honestly, I don't see how someone could have read the novel and come away with the assessment that the supernatural elements (or paranormal if you will) are imaginary.
