I really liked the book up to this point,. I was so confused. The ending was open ended but open ended about what choice exactly? If Tash implicates Laura, Laura will continue to say it was an accident right?

I think if Tash implicates Laura, Laura will say what really happened i.e. that Tash did it. I think Michelle's answer covers the bases except that I think Tash actually did push Jez, although just to get him away from her, and he went over the cliff.

I too was confused by the ending. Did Laura actually push him so she could get Tash to think that she herself had done it and thereby shut her up? I felt robbed that it was left open ended and we didn’t know whether she does confess or not. Surely she doesn’t have a choice with the police officer there? He was planning to reopen the investigation into Sophie’s death anyhow after he found that match on the number plates.

I might need to re-read the ending as I thought that the baby was definitely Jez’s and there was no question of it being Tom’s.

I should say that I loved the book by the way. Extremely well written and just couldn’t put it down.
