Rose Humphreys Mary Lynn, I agree! It was not written to be a serious story and just because we still read it does not make it any less silly. Silly as in lighthearted, not silly writing. JA wrote so well, which is why we still read her but just because some literary peeps want to put her on a pedestal does not mean we need to over-analyse her books or treat her works like the Holy Grail.
