Yes, to all of this! I had so many questions! Was anyone even monitoring it any more? Would they have left Konstance alone in there until she died of old age or went mad from the isolation? How did she reintegrate into society? Did she sue the company who set up the experiment? Who raised her? I completely agree that that line of the story felt underdeveloped.
We know nothing about the world into which Konstance emerged, except that there's the tiny village at Qaanaaq. I surmise that apocalyptic weather conditions set civilization back a few centuries, and Ilium no longer existed in any meaningful or monitored form.
