Caitlin Yes, this is a good rundown of the textual clues. It's not subtle. It seems like Mr. Preston is respecting Gran's wishes not to tell Molly who he is, but he's not hiding it from anyone else.

Judith Disagree. Mr.P was evasive, even when there was no reason to be after all those years, & the story he gives is plausible. If he had a daughter & grandchild with Gran, why not embrace them as family all along...they were adults now & lived right there in the same town! Instead, he married someone else & had a child of his own, but stayed close friends with Gran.

Cory I think after Gran had died, he has the moral obligation to look after Molly. But it's a work of fiction :S

Judith He cares about Molly & does plan to look after her, but that doesn't make him her grandfather. See previous comments.

Jessica Sharma I think he was her grandfather. Possibly he could of kept his distance at the grandmothers request. Or worried about impacting or upsetting his current family? Knowing how special Molly was he probably didn't want to upend her life and his families with the revelation.

Jessica Sharma By special I mean unique in her feelings and thoughts and understanding of life.
