I agree with you. And the fact that Peter didn't care about the hummingbird flying backwards, but Jonas did...I think that showed that she had more of a soul connection with Jonas that ultimately won out. It was an ambiguous ending, though!

That is a great rendition, and I believe you are correct, however the author said to look at the penultimate paragraph, which is the 2nd to last paragraph, for the answer. In that paragraph, she removes her wedding ring and presses it to her life line one, final time, then swims to Jonas. So, yes, she leaves her husband, but the answer, according to the author, is buried in that paragraph. Either way, you are right!
Plus he ate all the pistachio ice cream! A deal breaker for me!
