Judith No, it wouldn't be the same story without the Savannah character. She is part of the Harry Haddad backstory, & she latched on to that 1 day because in her mind, it represents how tennis & the Delaney Academy ruined her family's life. A lot is revealed about the Delaney's thru their interactions with her.

ANGELA Like what? They didn't like some kid barging in their house and going through their stuff? They didn't know her story, and being kids themselves they wouldn't stop to ask. It seemed like a very weak explanation of why she decided to implode that family instead of the countless other people in her life she felt had wronged her.

Judith Again, it wasn't about what happened that 1 day, it was all about tennis, & the privilege & disdain of the Delaney family back then is tied up in what happened to Savannah's family. Yes, they were just kids then, but how each Delaney interacts with her in the present, as adults, is what's revealing.
