We know she's already "switched" over to a different reality, reinventing herself as Joy's child when she says, "My mother plays tennis."
Oh my god, I feel like a total dope. I was listening to the ending in the grocery store this morning, and maybe I was just a bit distracted, but I heard that last line, "My mother plays tennis." and went "Weh? What??" I totally missed the meaning. ::head smack:: I went the whole book thinking it was going to be revealed that Savannah was Stan's daughter, based on the line waaaaay early on "She fell into the house like a child." (paraphrasing) Close, but no cigar...right idea, wrong parent!
