My first reason for telling you to stray away from the idea is that, well, like me, he's a salty, black, son-of-immigrants teenage boy. But even if I didn't relate with him on that level, I feel like watching his journey in Field Guide taught me a lot of lessons that I wouldn't have learned had a side character been in his position, and I don't feel like the sequel would be any different.
The second reason I have is that the story would just be less exiting. I mean, think about it; the other two books you've written, Charming and your autobio, have ended on peaceful notes. Similarly, there's not much that could happen in the sequel were you to insert a side character, because they're happy with their lives. (Obviously, exceptions include Liam, but still.) It would be boring. But... because you put Norris so low in life in that dissapointing end, I feel that if you wrote a sequel that revolved around his redemption and personal improvement, that would truly make for satisfying content.
