Good to know I (evidently) didn't miss something - unless you did too. :) I listened to it on audio so didn't really feel like trying to hunt for the passage, which is one thing print/etext is easier for.
I too thought Fred was the author of the letter. How many men go around "having premonitions"? These unaddressed coincidences just add to the rushed feeling of the ending.
Right? He was very odd, asking her to marry him? That was so weird. He wasnt a murderer as far as we know but he for sure was crossing bounderies!
