Chrystle Kuek "So filled bad language" is bad language itself. Haha. It's missing a "with".

Peter Mehiel Obscenity is a part of life, and it can be used by the writer to color a character's personality. But if used excessively, its not the obscenity I'm opposed to - it's just bad writing.

Aline My 96 year old MIL loves Stephen King. She couldn't finish one of his more recent books because it had too much swearing. Never used to bother her. I guess at some point you just don't have time for that shit.

George Would you stop reading a book if every 2 or 3 pages you turned, you were pricked by a pin? No, that's not how the taboo words affect me, but it clearly IS how they affect some people. (Cf. Aline's MiL in an answer here. ) And given how many, many books are available, I can't even insist desensitization is better than avoidance.
