I thought just the opposite! In my thinking, the ending showed that the humans were placing more attention on interpersonal relationships and interaction rather than socializing with an AF. So, like a lot of technology that is replaced by us, phones, computers, etc, Klara was sent to a museum of such where she could live with her memories and have a nice slow fade rather than being taken apart. I agree with your view of our society. It is such a shame what happens to elderly. I respect other cultures who value their elders and honor them.

(view spoiler)[I believe that Mother has some affection and gratitude towards Klara. I also think that Mother would have been uncomfortable with a slowly fading Klara hanging around after Joise left for school - she would have reminded Mother of her one time plan to use Klara to replace a "faded" Josie. I also think that Klara was self aware enough to communicate to Mother that a life of observation and contemplation in the yard would not be an unwelcome end (and in Mother's view much better than dissection or dismantling.)
