A I definitely think that would be a good ending but I feel like that wouldn't have fit with the book. The point of Tender is the Flesh is not a romance, it's a critique on society and Marcos very much reflects us. He sees himself as better than the others but in the end he still participates in the norms of this society. I see this similar to how most of us love animals but are we willing to become vegans and advocate for their rights?

Shane He views himself as better because he doesn't want to slaughter the people, but he doesn't view them as equals. Thats the difference.
