I found Guy Gavriel Kay's works to be really brilliant. My personal favourite was Under Heaven, closely followed by Tigana.

I've seen City of Stairs several times actually, like being displayed in the library, but always felt really hesitant to try it out and actually read it haha.

Thanks for the recommendations on Stairs and Samurai, I'll definitely try them!
