Are any of you old enough to remember the books of Lalita Tademy who has written several novels about the Creoles of Louisiana. They are an excellent way to discover that aspect of Black history which isn't really about Black people because the Creoles didn't really think of themselves as Black because of their strong connection to the French and the way in which they always had their annual Quadroon Ball designed to keep out anyone who wasn't a wealthy white man.
Thank you for a brief history and your personal connection to this. My husband was raised in Bunke, then moved to NO when he was 14. He always said that racism, or color division, was greatest among the Creoles.
