I agree that Black Swan Green is his most accessible, and I also preferred it to Cloud Atlas. "Thousand Autumns" is a bit more challenging in that it is rather long, but it is brilliant, in my opinion.
My favorite is The Bone Clocks, but perhaps I have to read Cloud Atlas again. Note that I had to read the Bone Clocks twice in order to get the full understandng, but I enjoyed it so much more.
