Lori, just my personal experience. I lived for 35 years in Bay St. Louis MS (until Hurricane Katrina😢). I worked as a substitute teacher in DeLisle and saw many of my students were light-skinned.Two-time National Book Award winner Jesmyn Ward is from DeLisle and writes about it.
