@James - Sorry, man, but I'm afraid that I *did* read the book and my comments are based on what I took away from it when done. If I ever have the time to read the book again, I'll be sure to keep count of the inordinate number of times it mentions that fact that the reader's mother very likely tried to had him/her aborted.
The eighties? This book was written in the FIFTIES. The theory is pretty sound, but the writing style is quite difficult to comprehend, as it's essentially a psych theory written in the style of Kerouac.
This is not what the book says. You either are lying that you read it, or you didn't understand most of the book. You are not acting the way you are because your parents argued or because of an attempted abortion. It doesn't say it ANYWHERE in the book. It does say that a really large amount of cases nave abortion in them, but that's about it. He is stressing it only because it's something you wouldn't suspect. Plus, do you think your mother would tell you? You seriously suggest that "go ask your mom" is a valid method of establishing if she's done something bad in the past?
