This one is hitting me on so many levels, H! I'm enjoying it so far - about halfway through the audiobook.

So glad to see that it also connected with you!

Marilyn (not getting notifications) Glad to see I am not the only one who never read this one. Hopefully I will get to it someday.

Yvonne G I have a few books in my upcoming schedule, where the characters are front and centre of the storyline. I have enjoyed those I have read so far, and this one is joining the others on my list to read! I hope you continue to enjoy this book to the end! :)

Just finished listening to this audiobook and have posted my review, Yvonne! Olive is not always front and center in each of these stories, but her presence affects each story.

message 11: by Karina (new)

Karina I have this! So glad you enjoyed it so I can actually look forward to it. I read one prior to this and it was just okay but this one is highly recommended. Great review, Debbie. (I hate the affair stories as well but I guess it’s super common)

message 12: by Jodi (new)

Jodi What a lovely review, Debbie! Olive, poor woman, has been waiting so patiently on my e-reader and for a very long time. I really hope I'm able to get to her this year; I think we might relate well to each other.😊

message 13: by CoachJim (new)

CoachJim I am very happy to see that you enjoyed the book. I enjoyed the review, but most married men have not had affairs. I am sure it was just a literary vehicle to enhanced the stories of the wives. In spite of that you do have me interested in reading the book.

CindySR " we all have a little Olive inside of us"
That's it in a few words, perfect review.

Thanks, John! I've seen trailers online but haven't watched this series. I did; however, hear great things about it!

NILTON TEIXEIRA Awesome review!
I think that it’s so unfair to give a negative review just because a character is not likeable.
I’m looking forward to reading this book.

Thanks, Nilton! I hope that you get that chance very soon! I have always thought that for me to "like" a character, they don't have to be likeable; they have to be believable!

Tina, I'm glad to see that you added it! Just be aware that this book is comprised of several short stories in which Olive Kitteridge may play a major or minor role in them.

Another great review, Debbie! these characters remind me of something John Gardner might have written and so I am intrigued by this. I'm going to add to and give it due consideration.

Cheri Love your review, Debbie, it brought back so many memories of reading this one, along with her others! Olive reminds me so much of my godmother, who lived next door to me when I was growing up and was one of my favourite people, more like a 2nd mother to me. Glad to hear the audiobook was a good 'listen'!

Haha! Main character, Olive, is in her 70s. I just think that readers that have been in long-term relationships, have lived through several life experiences, etc. would really appreciate these stories! 😉
