Kristen Jorgensen What are you reading?

Share the titles you would like to see in our polls and discussions.

Aliceson I read
Birdy by Moss
Confessions of a Mango
The unlikely take of Chase and Finnegan

They all seem like likely contenders.

Richie Partington Styx and Stones by Gary D. Schmidt and Ron Koertge

Whitney The Ordinary and Extraordinary Auden Greene by Corey Ann Haydu

I also read The Mighty Macy by Kwame Alexander, but I think it's solved too quickly

Edit (3/11): I saw the list on HMB. I started Hail Mariam and am almost finished. It's delightful and I think it should be considered, as well.

Shella Has anyone read A Scar Like a River?

Whitney Shella wrote: "Has anyone read A Scar Like a River?"

I've started it but I wasn't in the mood. I think this is going to be a year of really traumatic medical happenings :\

message 7: by Tamsyn (new)

Tamsyn Yes, I read it and enjoyed it. It's a companion book to her earlier books Umbrella Summer and Lost in the Sun, though stands alone. I loved the first two, so I was happy to read it. It shares some tactfully rendered subject matter with Kimberly Brubaker Bradley's Fighting Words.

message 8: by Shella (new)

Shella Tamsyn- would you recommend reading the other two- even if it is a stand alone?

All three are written as standalones, though they all connect. Loved them all, with the second possibly being my favorite.

Whitney Has Saber Tooth been suggested?

message 15: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten If you can get your hands on an ARC of "An Octopus Named Houdini" you will not be disappointed. It doesn't release until late October 2026, so maybe past the time of eligibility, but it is an absolutely mesmerizing novel-in-verse. Don't miss it.

message 16: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Kate Milford's Rialto is magical!

message 17: by Tamsyn (new)

Tamsyn I love Kate Milford and Rialto is going in my list for May — glad you enjoyed it!

message 18: by Richie (new)

Richie Partington The Second Life of Snap

I just finished, "When Tomorrow Burns".

message 20: by Heather (new)

Heather Marvel I just finished "When Tomorrow Burns" as well. It belongs on the contenders list for sure. Although, I'm still waiting for something to really blow me away this year.
