My YA Contemporary Fiction novel Tales of a Weirdo has 54k words and is out on September 25, maybe you would be interested in it. It's hard to think of a similar book, though it bears some semblance to Bukowski's Ham on Rye. Also, there is coarse language and a slightly explicit sex scene but other than that it has no violence, rape, abuse, or anything like it. The BioGrid is a vast biological computer housed in the root network of a genetically engineered forest. Dr Veejay Naidu’s breakthroughs in transferring the consciousness of his terminally ill son into an AI made him the obvious choice, but only one upload was completed before a catastrophic solar event took humanity to the brink of extinction.

Fragmented into diverse factions and locked in a never-ending feud, the badly damaged BioGrid lost contact with humanity for hundreds of years. When one of the factions discovered the remains of the human template and resurrected Raine Naidu, the BioGrid started working together toward the common goal of re-establishing an interface with humanity. But the attempt ended in betrayal; with the mind of a curious toddler named Glory turned into a stew of unsalvageable data. At least the data seemed irretrievable, until the child’s older sister, Adoris, worked out a way to access it.

Re-introducing 21st century technology to the ravaged world enabled Adoris to eliminate all opposition on her path to leadership; gaining direct access to the BioGrid and bending the most powerful of the factions to her will. When she took the entire BioGrid hostage, Raine was forced to rally his arboreal friends in a desperate bid for survival.

Hi Kieron: I am wondering if you'll review my new book, Capitol in Crisis, which is a fast-paced novel about an explosion which takes place on Capitol Hill, entrapping several people. What ensues is a complex rescue operation leaving readers asking themselves a single question: Will they reach the survivors of the explosion before it’s too late? "The Drake was an old ship, with 150 years of service behind her. She started life as a luxury cruise liner but, when times changed, she was mothballed and sat idle for many years. Then she came to the attention of Joseph Jones a young and passionate trader. He saw potential and negotiated to buy the old ship and, after a year in dock for conversion, the Drake re-emerged as the flagship for JJ Trading and, for sixty years she had served well. But now she was feeling her age, systems required constant attention, replacement parts were hard to find and operating expenses had forced Jones to scrap the old girl.
