Fabulous review, Jenna. I'm keen to read this, I loved the Girls.
I really loved this review, Jenna. I hated The Girls and the 2 short stories of Cline's I read after that. However, your take gave me some useful perspective that helped me see why others might like her work, and I truly appreciate that.

How much would you charge to write a review like this for my novel, Jenna? I don't quite aspire to French film aesthetics, but will take the '90s indie movie comparison if we're talking The Last Seduction or Bound. Terrific review! Thank you for reminding me to keep Cline on my radar. I loved The Girls even though you are right, she does not take us on a trip to the amusement park with hot dogs or cotton candy.
I was hoping for a little more closure from the ending but really enjoyed the story overall. Great review, Jenna! :)
Love your review! This book stressed me out, but I loved it. Hated the ending of the Sopranos, but like you, I suspect what the ending is.
Great review, Jenna. I'm not surprised you referenced Lily Bart here. The second I read the GR blurb on the book about the protagonist being dismissed from the dinner party and afterward wandering around, gamely trying to cope with "few resources ," I thought of the scene in House of Mirth where Lily is evicted from the yacht -- and everything goes downhill from there. I'm going to have to read this now.
Happy New Year!
