When the challenge guidelines say, "repost when the challenge is completed", does that mean we don't copy the goals and keep track, but instead post final results at the end? Just want to make sure I'm doing it correctly :)
You still track along the way. It means to copy and paste your entire completed challenge from your tracking spot to a new comment so we can all see your accomplishment. This makes it easier on the moderators to double-check things if there were specific tasks or dates to be noted along the way.
I am using Evernote; doing copy/paste to it with everything and then keeping track there, rather than filling up the website twice. Beth - ;)

Great idea! Copy/paste also works while editing a comment here on GR. It saves all the formatting to apply to the new comment as well.
So far I have posted I am in for 14 challenges, but now that I (with my husband) am in a seniors' facility I have a lot of time to read. Severe shoulder pain has stopped my other hobby of cross-stitching. Beth - ;)

It was a very sad day indeed when I realised my arthritic hands would no longer allow me to do those beautiful small stitches.
Thank you, Kate. It was indeed heartbreaking to have to give up something that gave me such joy and comfort. This is the last project I finished, in November. It took approx. 260 hours.

I only prefer for people to add their books as they go instead of submitting at the end is because often times if I'm stuck during a challenge, I'll look to see how other people met the goal or what books worked for that thing to get ideas. Some of you think outside the box and get creative in ways I wouldn't think of :)
You can still post along the way, and most people do. The repost at the end is so the mods can double-check items on covers and finished dates and such, to make sure all the tasks were done correctly. It's very rare that we have to ask a task to be redone, as everyone here is really great about finding the right stuff the first time around. :)

WOW! That's gorgeous, Beth! What a labour of love!

Beth - That is beautiful! Did you frame it? Hopefully, you are enjoying it someplace in your home.
No, it is not framed, just rolled up in a container under the bed. Along with dozens of other unframed pieces. I do have quite a few framed, but only half a dozen or so are actually hanging in our couple suite. Beth - ;)

I'm really confused! I was looking on NetGalley and saw that Kelly Irvin has a book called A Deadly Wilderness, that was archived March 2023. I looked for it on GoodReads and am not seeing it anywhere. She does have a book on GoodReads by the same name that was published in 2010, but they appear by the blurbs to be completely different stories. The first book is available for purchase. Just curious....has the author just not added the book to GoodReads? I've not run into this before.
In some of the challenge threads I see where someone has put a line through something they don't want to do to replace it with something else. How does one put a line through (cross out) a sentence?
< s > in the front and < / s > in the back (but remove all the spaces).
it is the letter s . . . and you need to make sure there is no space between the brackets and the word(s) you want to strike through
Oh well, it does not matter; I have never wanted to cross anything out anyway. :) I just delete.
Beth wrote: "it still does not work for me Oh well, it does not matter; I have never wanted to cross anything out anyway. :) I just delete."
it looks like it actually DID work for you!
Beth wrote: "Yes, but when I try again on my phone (to save the instructions in notes) it does not."well boohiss to THAT!
It probably isn't showing on your phone but will show on desktop. I'm only able to have full access to Goodreads through desktop. It looks very limited and completely different on my phone. I see everything crossed out for you both in your comments from my desktop so it appears to be working :)

It only works for me on desktop. If you look where it says some html ok or something like that. It gives you a list of things you can do like bold, underline, strikeout, etc. and what codes you use.
Lauri, that likely means the end part wasn't done right. Adding < /s > (but with no spaces) right after the part you want crossed out should do the trick.

HI! I thought we had a Buddy Read thread for
starting February 18th, but I don't see it. Am I missing the thread? Are those who were initially interested still interested in that? Is it too late to open a Buddy Read thread if so? I may just be missing the thread somehow!

Hi. I'm Rick and I'm new to the group. I thought this thread might be a place to ask some questions, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts: 1) What subject matter in a Christian-based novel attracted you the most?
2) How dark can a plot go as long as there is redemption at the end?
3) In a Christian-based novel, Is it offensive and a turn-off for unmarried couples to have sex as long as it isn't explicitly described?
I'd love to hear your thoughts on these matters.
Rick
I'm new to the group. Can someone tell me about buddies? Is it one or more persons having an ongoing chat about a topic of their choosing? If so, I'm interested. As a suggested topic: What type of story, that is, what subgenre within Christian fiction is your favorite and will keep you up late at night sacrificing sleep?

Lorraine, Thank you for the clarification! So it could be like doing a critique of a book, where say what we like and maybe what we think would have improved the story. I've been involved in a writer's group where we have done that with our works-in-progress. Do you have a book in mind?

Does anyone know if
ever comes around to containing faith based content? I'm in the first 10% but I feel like I'm reading a secular book and don't want to continue if if stays the same course but don't want to give up on it if it turns......
I haven't read it, so I don't know. The way I usually decide is give it another 1-2 chapters to spark more of my interest (or in this case, to start a faith thread). If it doesn't, then I DNF (do not finish) it.

Does anyone know if Becky Wade's A Bradford Sisters Romance series needs to be read in order or can they be read as stand alones.
This answer might be too late for you Reagan. They can be read as stand alones; however, they are best read in order. The first two books have character development for the third story. It's been a few years since I read the series. I think each book has a point of view for the sister in the next book in the series.
Nora is my favorite Bradford sister.

Thank you! I'll see if I can get the first book!
Can we talk about Ted Dekker, author of the month for October for a minute?! I'm trying to figure out which book I want to read for October but I've only read his work in a book he co authored with Rachelle Dekker,
. It ended up being one of my favorite books. I really really loved the depth and didn't mind that it was weird and for a good bit of the book, it wasn't clear who was light and who was darkness. I like books with a heavy spiritual element as well light vs dark, spiritual warfare. However, I dont like books that are more allegorical, or horror. I'd like to save his Circle series for next year, so I'm really looking for recommendations on stand alones. Is anyone familiar enough with his work to tell me which of his books are the most similar to The Girl Behind The Red Rope? I'm really looking forward to reading this author! Thanks so much!

I don't know about it's similarity to the book you mentioned.
Is it just me or are book covers disappearing, especially for kindle books. And books I read a few years ago are showing up on my status as if I did recent updates on them and saying I have read them 2 times when I haven't. Just wondering if the goodreads database is glitching or if this is just me. I hope it is okay to post about this here. Thanks!
