Hello everyone,
I am truly honored to be part of this esteemed group. My name is Albert Stanley Jackson, and I am the proud author of "What Were The Chances?" A book that has garnered attention on WLWT News and has been featured in the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Available both online and in select bookstores like Barnes & Noble and Joseph-Beth, as well as in eBook format exclusively on Amazon, my novel traces the inspiring journey of Sylvia Rose Turner. Raised in challenging circumstances in rural Mississippi, Sylvia Rose's resilience and determination propel her to a new life in one of Cincinnati’s most prestigious neighborhoods, Indian Hill.
Join Sylvia Rose as she navigates her extraordinary path, celebrating her triumphs and confronting the profound challenges life throws her way. It’s a story of perseverance, hope, and the remarkable strength of the human spirit.
Orlando Oriol writes: Albert Stanley Jackson skillfully crafts Sylvia, a beacon of strength raised in rural Mississippi. Her distinctive perspective shapes a compelling journey, revealing a character whose unwavering beliefs and dedication to family captivate readers. Jackson's portrayal of Sylvia evokes admiration, offering a protagonist embodying profound values of responsibility and compassion. Bravo to Albert Stanley Jackson for creating a memorable character who resonates with authenticity and leaves a lasting impact on those who venture into this poignant tale.

Good morning, members of the Oprah Book Club! I’m Dilip James, an author specializing in physics. Before you dismiss this topic as too technical, consider the beauty of a prism splitting light into a spectrum of colors. Light is central to our daily lives—from the glow of our screens to the sun’s rays. Yet, despite our technological advances, we still lack a clear understanding of how light travels from point A to point B. It’s astonishing that even with our ability to detect light from billions of light-years away, the basic mechanism of light propagation remains a mystery. How did this situation arise? At the turn of the 20th century, scientists discovered that all matter is composed of atoms, and further, that atoms consist of sub-atomic particles, the first of which was the electron. Experiments showed that accelerating electrons, which are charged particles, always emit electromagnetic waves. According to the calculations of Irish scientist Joseph Larmor, electrons should radiate away all their energy and spiral into the nucleus in a fraction of a second. This implied that atoms, and hence all matter, should not exist—an existential crisis for science.
To resolve this, the idea of wave-particle duality was introduced, suggesting that electrons behave as both particles and waves. In this model, the electron exists as a wave-function or “cloud” within the atom, seemingly preventing it from losing energy. However, this explanation falters, especially when dealing with multi-electron atoms. For example, to describe a lithium atom, which has three electrons, quantum mechanics requires nine extra spatial dimensions—far beyond our everyday experience of three dimensions plus time.
My book, ‘Redefining the Electron’, offers a fresh perspective on these puzzles. It challenges conventional quantum mechanics, providing a clearer explanation for the behavior of light without resorting to complex theories like wave-particle duality or multi-dimensional wave-functions. I invite you to explore this new understanding—your view of the universe may never be the same! Also an explanation of gravity and how it works!

Helloooo~ You can call me Alora. I am a 19 years old dreamer (who is mysterious... won't reveal how mysterious I am right now). I am ambitious and have a never giving up attitude to life. Although life has been like a roller coaster ride for me... I can proudly say that, I am mastering how to thrive amongst all these struggles. I would be lying if I said that I was a big bookworm. I do love reading self-help books... but I am more of an author, rather than a reader. Don't get me wrong though. I am not the type to say, "I am experienced so you should follow me"-- because after all, I don't really believe in 'absolute truth'. I feel like truths are relative too. What is the 'right' way to do a particular thing... will be different for different people. So, I don't want anyone to do it my way. If there is any way that I want to help people-- then that would be, to help them find their own way. Oh, I am a singer and a dancer too. I have huge goals regarding that which I will keep as a secret for now (you will know the plan if you read my book which is yet to be published xD) And... about that book, I decided to write this non-fiction book. I haven't published it yet though. In the book I have mentioned a unique and fun way on how I approach all my small wishes to all my big wishes. To be honest, I really want to build a community named 'The Unconventional Thinkers' with that book. This is it for my intro. I have so much more to say... but it would be like giving everything about myself away in one day. So... I won't. Also, the book and this account, everything will be anonymous. I have my reasons, but do know, that I have some really really unique stuffs to share. I hope I will make genuine friends here and those 3 people that I can take in to start that discord community named 'The Unconventional Thinkers'.

Hello! I've been on GR for quite a while now, although I'm new to this group. I've seem to have been stuck in a rut of not-so-good books lately, and am open to suggestions on what to read next. I remembered recently that there were a number of books recommended by Oprah's Book Club that I really enjoyed ("The Help", "Where the Crawadads Sing", "The Secret Life of Bees", to name a few). So, I have come here to find more suggestions! I enjoy a variety of genres including historical fiction, mystery, thrillers, adventure, period pieces, particularly of the Victorian era, clasic literature, and an occasional whimsical story. Absurdist fiction - not so much!I'm looking forward to seeing what's being read, and getting some recommendations!

Hi All, Author here: 2025 release Promising Young Man, a raw, often hilarious intergenerational novel capturing the heartbreakingly relatable messiness of young (and older) adulthood, the weight of mental health struggles (ADHD), and unpredictable beauty of human connection with a classic 70s road films vibe: About a Misunderstood, Mistake-Riddled Boy Looking for Love & Purpose in Modern America. (& his other-minded Grammy who's finally ready to really live.)
I love reading (and writing) contemporary realistic, character-driven fiction. My recent favs are: Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver, The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride, and Ash Wednesday by Ethan Hawke.

Hello, I'm British and with the family now living in Spain. We moved here years back. My schooling was split between the UK and Spain. It's not an excuse, but in learning a new language my reading for leisure was interrupted - it turned out me and languages struggle. I'd love to make some friends and get recommendations.
Hello everyone, I'm the rare old mix of Irish & English with French undertones.I'm happy to be a part of this group.

Hi everyone, I’m Lori Rehfeldt, and I’m honored to join this amazing community of readers and storytellers. When I was 18, I made the bold decision to enlist in the military at a time when very few women did. It wasn’t the easy path, and I didn’t do it for glory—I did it to stand on my own, to lift a financial burden off my family, and to prove that I could hold my own in a world that wasn’t built with young women like me in mind.
My book, Rendlesham Lone Ranger, is a deeply personal memoir—part coming-of-age, part mystery, and entirely from the heart. It traces my journey from an intuitive, sensitive child to a young woman facing extraordinary events during my first Air Force assignment in England. What I witnessed there still shapes how I see the world.
This isn’t just a military story—it’s a human story about courage, isolation, and the unseen forces—both earthly and not—that test our strength.
I’m looking forward to connecting, learning, and sharing with you all.
Warmly,
Lori

Hello dear members,My name is Sibusiso Sambo, an African author, dreamer, and thinker deeply concerned with the direction humanity is heading. I was born into a world where so many are still unheard, unseen, and left behind — yet I never gave up on the belief that something greater is possible for all of us.
Like many of you, I’ve always turned to books for healing, wisdom, and vision. But there came a moment in my life when I stopped searching and started writing — not just to share my voice, but to awaken something sleeping in the hearts of many.
That’s when The New Equation was born.
But this is not just another book.
This is a journey — a daring question.
What if we could rewrite the logic of the world?
What if purpose and justice replaced profit and division?
What if the forgotten could finally rise — not through chaos, but through a new kind of understanding?
The New Equation is simple in language but deep in thought. It’s written for the youth in rural Africa, for the thinker in the city, for the teacher, the mother, the builder, the believer. It’s for anyone who still carries hope but doesn’t yet have the formula to apply it.
This book does not claim to have all the answers. Instead, it offers a challenge, a vision, and a key — a mysterious key that might unlock something hidden inside you.
If you’ve ever felt that the world is not working the way it should...
If you've ever longed for a fairer system, for deeper meaning, for unity across our differences...
Then this book is calling you.
📘 I warmly invite you to explore The New Equation.
It may question you.
It may disturb you.
It may even change you.
But above all — it will make you think.
With respect, humility, and a heart full of hope,
Sibusiso Sambo
Author of The New Equation

Hi,I'm new to Oprah's Book Club both as a reader and self-published author. Now that I'm working less, I have more time to read and write. My career has been in psychiatry (child and adult) so believe it or not I favor books with psychological themes and complex characters. I've started Haruki Murakami's The City and Its Uncertain Walls and want to read Wally Lamb's The River is Waiting.
Any recommendations?
