What Were the Chances?

Rate this book
Sylvia Rose Turner has no time to daydream of fairy godmothers, white weddings or debutante balls. Instead, she must care for her brother and sister, as her mother is rarely home.

Holding steadfastly to values learned while growing up in rural Mississippi, Sylvia Rose’s fight for survival
is fraught with heartache and pain.

Now enjoying a life of wealth and status, Sylvia ponders the cost of her transformation from country girl to a revered socialite in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The answer comes decades later. Sylvia, now a matronly grandmother, answers a knock at her door, triggering a series of events which finally bring closure to many years of unresolved heartache and pain.

OK, I gotta admit, this is NOT my first choice of genres when I pick up a book. But I got a copy as a gift, so I grabbed it and gave it a go. I'm glad I did! My dad grew up in the south, (North Carolina) so I'm familiar with the areas and mannerisms of the locals, and this author nailed it to a tee! I recalled many trips back to visit my dad's side of the family, and could actually feel like I knew these characters. Very well written and it kept my attention throughout the entire book. Give it a shot and see if you get sucked into the life of Sylvia like I did.

Spoiler free Review
I was sent a free copy of the book and I have to say I was not disappointed. The fluidity of this book was amazing. There was not part of it where I was bored reading it. I found myself feeling all of the feelings the main character. That’s very rare when I read a book. I definitely feel this book is worth a read.

Very nice story, not a lot of bite to it. But well written and perfectly clean for a teen to read. You gotta love a story with a happy ending.

I enjoyed this book very much. It’s like a life story of a young woman (Sylvia Rose Turner) from a young child with romance and family set in real places and goes full circle. The author makes you route for her to be successful and his vivid descriptions make you feel like you know the characters. One part of the book is so sad I’m not ashamed to say I sobbed my heart out! From a book! First time ever from a book. I really do recommend this book. It doesn’t take you long before you can’t put the book down as you are transported through her life with her. To see Sylvia Rose transform from a young basically uneducated teen to a fairly sophisticated woman is heartwarming. But she never fails they’d where she came from. Like any good book, it ends with happiness. If you do happy endings you must read this book. Best book I have read in years!

I loved getting to know Sylvia Rose. She kept her head up no matter what and transformed into a successful woman in the end. That being said, she never forgot her humble beginnings and the struggles she faced to get to where she was.

This was a sweet story, sad in places, but which ended on a happy note. I just wanted the best for our Sylvia Rose and am so glad all turned out well for her
