brenna {hiatus} mistborn by brandon sanderson is a great high fantasy with very little romance!

message 5: by izzy :3 (new)

izzy :3 harry potter
lord of the rings & the hobbit
throne of glass has romance but it’s YA so it’s not really centered around that

izzy :3 checked reddit. a lot of terry pratchett praise, so that’s probably worth looking into

asiya | アセヤ (free palestine) The Eragon quartet!!

Barely any romance and has a MALE main character!! He’ll love it!!

Curtis ♡ slump era Is this for you or somebody else?

message 11: by hampton (last edited Aug 20, 2024 08:35PM) (new)

hampton richards Gregor the overlander by Suzanne Collins! Fire series with a male protaganist by an amazing author we already love!!

message 12: by Jacci (new)

Jacci Ferrantino The magician apprentice is a classical fantasy coming of age story, or really most anything by Brandon Sanderson, especially Mistborn and The Storm light Archive although there's more violence in those than Magician.

message 13: by Jacci (new)

Jacci Ferrantino Eragon is a good recommendation too

wait that’s the perfect rec, maze runner fs

message 16: by Callie (new)

Callie These series my brother really liked and he isn't a big reader:
• Maze Runner
• Legend
• Hunger Games
• Secondborn
• The Lightning Thief
• Divergent

I know they might lean a tad to fantasy depending on the series but for the most part it's YA.

message 17: by Jacci (new)

Jacci Ferrantino Whoever said cruel prince is totally off the mark. For me that's 100% romantasy and in my opinion written more for young girls than young men (even though I really like the books). I wouldn't recommend for a boy not interested in romance!

🦋Aryelle🦋 Almost all the books I read are romance and especially the fantasy ones so no 😞 sorry ❤️

That's more for younger kids, no offense.

⋆˚✧ sabrina ✧。⋆ the farseer trilogy ! (it is a sixteen book series beyond that but it’s very good adult fantasy)

Enders Game is fantastic, and there’s a few other books in the series that he might like too (I like Ender’s Shadow best) and it was made into a movie too… he might like that

Legend is full-blown romance though, specifically LATER on in the books.

Jett of the hollow 🏹 House of hollow, although it’s more of a modern fantasy horror? So it takes place in the modern day but it’s still fantasy-esque

bookworm ꣑ৎ‎ ˚. (more active) - The Hunger Games (some romance, but it’s not a lot at all)
- The Poppy War (idk but I don’t think there’s any romance, and if there is it’s quite low-key)
- Percy Jackson
- Six of Crows (I haven’t read it, but I think that if there’s romance it’ll be very subplot)

Hope this helps!💗💐

message 39: by Bashir (new)

Bashir Ibrahim The Belligerent Art by Bashir Ibrahim would be enjoyable and worth your time. It is political and legal thriller blended aesthetically with the element of romance. You can explore its gripping contents here:

Good luck!

message 40: by ♡FaYe♡ (new)

♡FaYe♡ The hobbit, LOTR, harry potter, or anything Brian Sanderson they're always good as they're aimed at a younger demographic ! Hope that helps

message 41: by ✮demi✮ (new)

✮demi✮ scythe, maze runner, perks of being a wallflower

Hannahhh ;) [free palestine] Definitely maze runner, and then lord of the rings & anything by Brandon Sanderson as well

message 43: by Kai's (new)

Kai's Darling The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. Its mainly fae politics and the romance is only on the side. Not the main thing

message 44: by Sadie (new)

Sadie my brother read scythe and maze runner and loved both! maybe he would like six of crows bc it has a very cool plot with very minor romance?

message 45: by emma ⚘ (new)

emma ⚘ Rangers apprentice!

message 46: by Ivonne (last edited Aug 21, 2024 05:31AM) (new)

Ivonne Rovira 1. Of Mice and Men (I know, I know, but it's a classic for a reason!)
2. The Golden Compass trilogy by Philip Pullman (like Harry Potter, it's wasted on children!)
3. The Murder Farm (pretty short, too)
4. A Night in the Lonesome October (I re-read it every Halloween)
5. Down with Skool! (laugh-until-you-cry good)
6. The Cavendish Home for Boys and Girls
7. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
8. A Field of Darkness (great mystery!)
9. The Magic Thief and its sequels (great fantasy quartet)
10. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and its sequels

message 47: by Clarice (new)

Clarice Red Rising by Pierce Brown

Eragon by Christopher Paolini

message 49: by Jeanine (new)

Jeanine The Spiderwick Chronicles, Inkheart and its sequels, the Percy Jackson series. The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury. I will post more as I think of them.

Cami✯ (hiatus — school ಠ_ಠ) The Cruel Prince perhaps? It leans heavily on the politics side of the scale.
