Thanks Tom for your review, I didn't know the things you mentioned and I was very surprised to read them. Dan Brown ...your brother-in-law.. is he "thst" Dan Brown? The famous writer??
I love Rachel--my husband got this one for his birthday, I intend to get to it. This sounds very ULTRA (her podcast) from your description.
I love Rachel too. She loves her history and seems dedicated to researching it in order to use it as a means of warning us…I must read this! Thank you!

Thanks for your review, Thomas. I didn’t know about this book but will look for it now. I have read her book on the oil industry and was impressed with her research and writing.

Impressive review, Thomas! Sounds like there were quite a few surprising admissions that were revealed in this book.

Yes indeed
If you were surprised by the Nazi's opinion of US treatment of Blacks, read "Caste" by Isabel Wilkerson and "The 1619 Project" by Nicole Hannah-Jones (among others). Both discuss this topic.
I always love how Ms. Maddow can frame a story -- and then scare the pants off of me. I agree that this was a good read - but a bit scry for my vacation at the ocean! LOL

Thanks for the info Sherry
Hi Thomas. I really like your review. I wanted to read this book too but my problem with the book is that Rachel Maddow despite being against fascism and quite vocal about it in this book, is quiet during the genocide taking place in Palestine and blatant fascist tactics used to suppress university students and basically anyone who is vocal against the genocide. Isn’t that hypocritical coming from her? Especially since she has chosen to write this book.
Thanks Samra. It is beyond the scope of this book. See my review .of a pertinent book https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I have a Jewish d-i-l with a different viewpoint. She and I don't discuss this issue.
There was a reporter on MSNBC who was outspoken on the treatment of Palestinians in this current "war."
He was fired.
I believe Ms. Maddow is simply staying in her lane, so as not to anger the powers-that-be at NBC.

That could be. I didn't know about the reporter.
Wonderful review Thomas. So much to learn and be concerned about - and thankfully she told us. Now we need to do something about it with our vote. Thank you. ☺️
