I refuse to read the second book for the same reason and also because I have a ton of books I want to read first.
I hope you like it.

I heard a lot of things about it too. I'll definitely leave my judgement of the book separately :)

message 15: by Stefan (new)

Stefan Ahh, prolonging to read a really great book just because its series isn't finished = blasphemy. :D
And, sadly, more and more I see exactly that: "If ain't finished - ain't gonna read it.". Do people realize they're missing out a lot by doing so?
I mean, imagine if people are actually waiting for Stormlight Archive series to end... Seriously? They're gonna wait another 20 years?
Blasphemy! :D
Anyhow, I'm glad you'll be reading this and can't wait to read your review for it. Enjoy! :D

Haha! That's actually true Stefan! Well in this case, the reason for the wait was that I felt like the last book would have a release date soon so might as well wait. For Stormlight, it's a 20 year series and it's insane to wait for it to be completed first, not to mention it's my favorite series of all time right now :D anyway thanks man, I hope I'll enjoy it too! :)

message 17: by Jessica (new)

Jessica This is a book that keeps coming back to me. You're the 3rd person that's reading this now. I feel like I should pick it up again!

I lost count on how many times this book popped up in my feeds! You should do it Jessica if you really love the book and have nothing important to read currently! :)

I just finished the book Beatriz and it was fantastic! :D

message 31: by Celeste (new)

Celeste One of my favorite reviews you've written, love. Fantastic job. I'm so glad you loved this! And you hit on my two favorite things about the book: the prose, yes, but most of all, the MUSIC. Rothfuss encapsulated every emotion I've ever felt while playing an instrument into Kvothe, and he'll probably always be one of my favorite literary characters because of that. Well done, darling. *applauds*

message 32: by Bety (new)

Bety Yaaay I'm glad you liked it!

message 33: by Katie (new)

Katie Glad you enjoyed it, I completely agree, what stood out for me wasn't exactly the characters the story or even the world, it was they way the story was told (with the interludes ect) and it's depiction of music. This is why I was so happy Lin Manuel Miranda is going to be an executive producer of the adaptation, because of how important music is to this novel.

message 34: by Jordan (new)

Jordan Once I finished it I realized that it was mostly about this dude doing absolutely nothing but it was still a page-turner for me. Just pleasant. :'D

If only I could write reviews like you did then maybe I'd be able to explain it haha

message 35: by Haïfa (new)

Haïfa Beautifully said dear !! ^^

message 36: by Anna-Emilia (new)

Anna-Emilia great review! I fell head over heels with his writing and agree that the story probably wouldn't have been as great in someone else's hands :)

message 37: by Caleb (new)

Caleb M. Very good review Petrik! So glad you ended up liking this! Book 2 is even better. I promise. I read it in one day. I just don't do that! Haha. I recommended this to a friend, about halfway through I asked him how he was liking it he said "I'm reading a book about a guy playing the Lute all the time, but I just can't stop!" I thought about it for a second and decided it was pretty accurate :) Your reviews just keep getting better and better man! Keep up the goodness

message 38: by TS (new)

TS Chan Your reviews just keep getting better. Just fantastic!

I'm with you that it's slightly overrated ;)

I agree with you and Pet tgats its slightly overrated. But i got in on the ground floor of this series so i didnt have the massive hype train that everyone else gets now.

Same here. Well I read this 4 years back when I wasn't even on Goodreads. So I was like "Wow what lovely writing" and you know I love school settings so it was good. I have to say it lost me a bit in the next book though but I won't spoil it for Petrik here.

The book that blew me away even without the hype train was TWOK.. that was also pre-Goodreads days.

Whoa!! Really!? I like book 2 so much better than book 1! I am curious what the you off. Feel free to shoot me a message about it if you are up to it.

I'm reading TWoK right now. Hype train is killing me. It needs to pick up already. But i still have faith in Sanderson :)

Aww thank you love!! Yeah I agree, all the music scenes in this book are so well done that without them I think I wouldn't rate it this high!

Thank you Katie! I finally decided to read it after a while and yeah, I can't wait to see how Lin Manuel Miranda will go around to produce the songs in the adaptation! I have faith for the music though since it's him :D

Hahaha that was exactly my thought as well Jordan. There's almost nothing interesting happening the story but the prose never fails to lure you in!

Petrik Anna-Emilia wrote: "great review! I fell head over heels with his writing and agree that the story probably wouldn't have been as great in someone else's hands :)"

Thank you Anna!! Yeah the prose was just so good! I kept thinking how the hell does he come up with this writings during my read!

message 50: by Iving (new)

Iving Great review, Petrik! I'm so, so glad you liked this! It's in my top 3 favorite books :) the writing is so... musical? Idk exactly how to call it, but it has something that makes it flow smoothly, in my opinion. Oh, and the fanart of Kvothe performing at Eolian is beautiful! It has sort of a manga vibe ~
