Same as you I enjoyed the first few chapters and once I got past 15% everything changed for me. Yes same, I’m all for morally gray characters but here that was not executed well being that they were ultimately awful and I also cannot find a redeeming quality and it makes me think was that her intent? I wish we knew lol both mmcs were horrible so I felt like I couldn’t root for neither considering the obvious things that they did wrong. It’s still beyond me how jessa wrote them how she did. It’s sad how they both just cared about having sex with her and the way they both treated her. Daphne was utterly stupid and it was so frustration to navigate that and the circles she ran in with them both and then the ending just made me laugh because of course. Yeah the racist connotations were wrong and while she addressed the matter I just don’t know how I feel still. But yeah, that ending was entirely anticlimactic. You mirrored my exact feelings on this book that I mentioned and it’s just overall so disappointing when we expected so much more. Amazing review anyways 🩷 Hopefully your next reads are/have been better!! 🫂

bestie i agree with every single word that you’ve written here! this book is an absolute mess with no plot, no world building and no decent characters. i had the same thoughts when i started reading, it seemed magical and kind of exciting up until the first day in neverland 💀 i don’t know how jessa managed to create such a shallow character like daphne, it’s like she googled the dumbest character traits and based daphne on her search result. i don’t even want to comment peter cause he’s just the worst. hook is a predator, who is trying to act like an adult but in reality he’s also immature like all of them 🤡 and the way daphne kept bouncing back between two awful love interests just because she cannot be alone is beyond words.
jessa wrote her others fmcs, magnolia and daisy, as strong independent women, what happened with daphne? 🥲
and also the way we don’t even know what’s the main plot of this book series! there were no cliffhangers, no villains, no global events that may stir the plot – the whole plot of this book was love triangle 😩 i don’t know what was going on in jessa’s head when she decided to create this world 😭

@Sabrina there has to be a reason why the characters are so awful. It’s so weird how we can’t see any redeeming qualities in them, it makes me think that Jessa must have a plan. I wish she would tell us why she created such horrible characters 😭 there’s a huge focus on the love triangle, but like you said, both mmc’s suck, how were we supposed to root for them? I was hoping for Daphne to open her eyes but she just kept finding excuses for Peter and Jem’s behaviour 🙄 something must have possessed Jessa when she was writing this book lol I hope she eventually talks more about the book, I feel like it’s needed. I can’t believe we were all so excited for this book and it turned out to be the most disappointing read 🥲 thank you my love 🫶🏻

@marie daphne should’ve remained in London, everything went downhill when she arrived in Neverland 🫠 exactly, the characters have no depth, they’re just awful 😤 I really don’t see the point in this, why did she create such horrible characters? I thought Daphne would have a change of heart, that she would realise she was better alone, but no, she kept making excuses and acted like the world’s biggest idiot 🤡 I’m telling you, something happened when Jessa wrote this book, there’s no way the same person who wrote the MPU books wrote Never 💀 YES! There’s absolutely no plot. It’s like she forgot she was writing fantasy, there has to be a plot.
MP3 has to be great, I can’t even fathom the thought of it being disappointing. I’m manifesting that we’ll love it 🫶🏻

I was going to continue reading this book because I love Jessa Hastings.. but then when I saw this I thought.. might as well not waste my time 35% in.

It just doesn’t make sense and I feel nothing towards these characters.

the first paragraph is exactlt how i felt. yes exactly theyre not even morally grey theyre genuinely AWFUL and yess theres no comparing mpu 😫 i think she should just stick to writing about bjparks thats her best work. the racism was crazy …. the pedophilia was crazy the plot was nonexistent the depth to the characters was also nonexistent. nothing about any of these characters was likable 😭 this is so disappointing tbh. i love this review tho, said everything i was thinking! hopefully she doesnt ruin mp3 like this 😫😔 hoping ur next read is better 💗🫂

You've said how I feel and more babes, it's a shame this read was a let down for us all. Thanks for bringing it to my attention that she acknowledged this because I didn't see this until now! I agree I think she dealt with the situation perfectly regarding the racial connotations. Sadly this won't fix all of the other faults the book has but it's a step in the right direction. I haven't read MP and I still want to next year because her writing was beautiful it just wasn't executed how I envisioned :( Great review bb 💗

Oh damn after reading your review am feeling relieved I didn't read it and will NEVER read it (pun intended lol). Both the MMC are absolutely disgusting and it's seriously making me sick. Nothing about this book is appealing, sorry you had to go through it. Hopefully your next read will be far more amazing.

@emara what’s funny (maybe not so funny) is that Jessa has said that she can write the mpu books in 2 weeks, but it took her YEARS to write Never. And this is what she gives us? A book with the most horrible characters? 🤡 it’s such a mess, I don’t know what she was trying to do with this story. mp3 has to be great, it will be too painful if it doesn’t live up to our expectations 😭 Thank you lovely 💖

@Paige it’s so sad, we were all so excited 🥲 yes, it shows that she’s listening to the readers and is aware of what everyone’s been saying. Hopefully she’ll also address the book's other faults 🤞🏻I hope you love the MPU, it’s so much better. There’s a lot of emotion behind each word and the characters, despite being highly flawed, have a lot of depth and layers to them 🤍 thank you ml 💖
