Mysti Damn!!! I'll def steer clear of this one. I love an a-hole redemption but this sounds like he never changed his a-hole ways.
Also, don't feel bad about negative reviews. I used to feel the same but then realized that I'm spending my time and money to read this so I'm going to give it an honest review of what I think.

Natalie Randall @Misty thank you! That’s so true.

I think that is another huge reason I was SO disappointed by this book! I love an a-hole redemption too and that’s why I kept reading, I was waiting for it!!! 😭 and there is literally. No. Redemption. Not one ounce of it. He doesn’t get ANY consequences for his actions. He doesn’t really start treating the FMC better. I don’t even remember him saying “I’m sorry” (I might be wrong about that since it’s been a while, but there definitely wasn’t an actual full apology). He was basically like “here is my excuse and I miss you” and she forgives him.

YES STEER CLEAR

OMG I hate that. It just makes the FMC look weak and like a doormat! I need them to grovel and really apologize for what they've done. That's one of the issues I have with the book I'm reading now. I don't think he repented nearly as much as he should have.

Natalie Randall @misty I completely agree with you!!!

And if you’re talking about Mafia Darling, I thought the same thing! Fausto threw pregnant Francesca out of his house and into a beach house prison after keeping a secret about his son, and only came for her after she was kidnapped, right?? I remember being very angry with her for forgiving him too! And I get over-the-top enraged by men (even fictional 😂) threatening to or planning to take a women’s child away from her, which is the whole fucking plot of Dr Stanton. Dr Stanton is WORSE!

EXACTLY!!! He would say occasionally that he regretted it, but it was in his internal monologue. He should have been on his knees crying and begging for her forgiveness.

SCuervo The fact that he had the freaking audacity to take her to court, and use the bullshit arguments he had against her, in which, by the way, he was there right alongside her. I would not have forgiven him, I hate Cameron Stanton

Natalie Randall @SCuervo RIGHT?! I couldn’t believe him. I honestly wish I had never read this book, how dare words on a page make me this angry?!

Kel @Natalie Randall, don’t know if you will see this, since it’s, well, now, but I completely agree and feel the exact same way about Mr Garcia. Finished that book months ago yet still manage to work myself up over Seb’s behavior every now and then. The level of emotional violence he lobbed at A. both before and after the jump in time was hard for me to digest. If this were a different genre — and a different author — the emotional abuse would likely have given way to physical. While I’m ranting: Why is it that so many women authors of dark romance, contemporary romance, etc., etc., seemingly hate … women? So many — too many — FMCs are brought to life as these insipid, wavering, clueless, insecure beings quick (too quick) to forgive, forget, make excuses for, and over-analyze. They are often characterized as strong and smart, at least initially, but then in the next breathe are willing and even eager to forgo their dreams, ambitions, and what made them “them,” all for the sake of staying with (often a euphemism for staying under) the MMC.
