This sounds enticing. I'm not adding it yet as I don't know if it'll make it to Australia and I don't dare request books on NG because I've got 35 pending (insert scream emoji).
My goodness, Debbie, I'd almost rather read your reviews than my own books!! (well, I might have exaggerated, but only a tiny little bit). Those stories sound great BUT I don't read short stories. I DO love African fiction, though, so I might look up the collection, just to get some author names to watch for in future. If you haven't read it, yet, you really should read "Son of the House" by Cheluchi Onyemelukwe-Onuobia. It's incredibly good and since we're book-twins, I'm almost certain you'll LOVE it!!

Bianca, I’m screaming with you! Between NG and EW, I have that many review obligations, too. They hang over me, and I’m trying to get through the pile, which makes me put aside a bunch (like 100) that I want to read right this minute. Argh, such silly problems in the larger scheme of things, but nagging none the least!

I've been reserving so many books at the library - I don't have much time or energy to read at night. Thank goodness for the audiobooks. Speaking of which, which one did you end up getting on Audible?

Oh you’re so nice, Jodi--thanks! I didn’t realize you don’t read short stories. I love them—though I’m picky. Reading this book was a big risk, since I had never heard of the publisher or any of the authors. But it ended up being great. Thanks for the recommendation. I now have Son of the House on my short list! Since we are usually book twins, I’m betting I will love it!
P.S. I am having a hard time with the new Book Page design. I hate it! Plus, there’s a bug and I can’t see my review Likes or Comments. Have been going back and forth with tech support for days. I’m so bummed and frustrated! I think they are rolling out the design slowly. Do you have it yet? Any problems?

Thanks, Jen. There were lots of quotable lines, very rich! I’m finding that there are few short-story fans. Had no idea it was sort of a niche.

I still haven’t chosen for book from Audibles. Born a Crime is a contender, but not sure still. I think I’d do better with nonfiction memoirs, mostly), but not sure.
I’m freaking out over the insanely buggy new GR design! Have spent hours trying to see my reviews and comments. A total disaster!

Thanks so much, Jaidee! I hope you like it as much as I did. Looking forward to your thoughts!
I've only just got on GR, you're my first comment, hopefully GR hasn't gone completely crazy. Good luck with picking. I've still got 3, 4 books I got on Audible that I haven't listened to because I'm too busy listening to the free library audiobooks. books I purchase suffer a similar destiny. :-)
You did a marvelous job on these stories, Debbie. You have such a way with words. And yes, the pogo stick. Mind altering! :-)
Oh I wish I wasn't so guilty of 'quote-athon". Maybe we could coin the term quote-athonitis Hehehehe. But I just cannot help myself.

Oh, the sad destiny of all our books that are woefully neglected!

Thanks so much for your kind words, Margitte! I think quote-athons are wonderful! Love it when reviewers add them! They always tell me whether I’m going to like the language and ideas or not. Plus, as the reviewer, you get to be reminded of all the good lines. It’s fun to come upon them in my older reviews. Always makes me want to reread!
