I adore your reviews! Such dry wit you possess. I have a private question I’d like to ask you. I can’t figure out how to send one? Perhaps you could message me when you get a chance? Thank you!

Such kind words. Thank you, Angela! I'll message you right now, with pleasure.
I can't believe that EM Forster, that beloved author of country house, uptight, very British, flawed relationship novels wrote sci fi, not sure how I feel about this!

I was the same, Jo. I was already a fan of his frightfully English books on class divides, and had no idea he'd written a sci-fi story until I read @Apatt's review!
Wow! An Asimov quote, a Dalek reference, this is a love letter to us nerds 🤓 Wonderful review, Kevin, I could not have put it better, if I could I would have...
Apatt wrote: "Wow! An Asimov quote, a Dalek reference, this is a love letter to us nerds 🤓 Wonderful review, Kevin, I could not have put it better, if I could I would have..."
Then I shall dedicate this review to you, my friend.
Thank-you, Apatt!
Love (!) the Asimov quote and OMG why haven't I read this already?!? I'm off to find it right now!! (She says into her little monitor😞)

Thanks, Mackey. Don't let that little monitor take over your life! : )

A sumptuous review of a prescient story.
As for lifting your hat to EMF, I was sure Heath Robinson must have invented such a machine already, and I was right!

I'm sure it will come in very useful for you.

Thank you for the kind comments, Cecily. : )

Kevin....but did Forster predict an exercise regimen visualized, via monitor, with resultant total fitness? That potential reality would be awesome!.... I can dream.....
Fran wrote: "Kevin....but did Forster predict an exercise regimen visualized, via monitor, with resultant total fitness? That potential reality would be awesome!.... I can dream....."
I believe he did, Fran, as he's foreseen supermarkets where (get this) you'll one day have to scan your own groceries. I can't imagine anything that ridiculous ever happening! ; )

Oh, I hope it's a stovepipe hat, like Abe Lincoln wore, Jennifer! That's a trend that needs reviving! : )
How exhilarating for you to travel back in time with Forster’s droll commentary on his future/our present! Such a find!
Your amusement, generously shared, dances off the page. Somehow, I felt your tongue stuck up your cheek, enjoying tickling funnybones, Kevin! Wonderful review.

This is a short story that could easily be read in an afternoon. It's even free to read online (link is on @Apatt's review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...). But you have to sign up to the site, so I paid instead.
Great review Kevin, especially the dalek reference, can’t believe I missed this one it comes highly recommended and I even own the “science fiction hall of fame” where it’s included, it’s added to the list.

Just saw your review, Angela. So pleased you liked it!
A very thoughtful and comprehensive review - and you remembered to mention the sumptuous bouquets amid the sadness. I'm glad I finally got round to reading this and hence returning to your review. And as you liked this and Galapagos, I suggest you try the even shorter I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. Much darker, so not your usual thing, but a very good counterpoint.

I was filled with admiration at Forster's astonishing clairvoyance. Must pop over to your review in my mechanised chair... Bzzzt! Whirrrr!

Such a great review Kevvy! I am sending you the bill for my shirt when I spilt coffee over it laughing at your magnesium/selfie sentence. Hahahaha, I am still laughing. :-)

You are far too kind, Neale. Lovely to hear from you, my friend! : )
Hey Kevin, or Marc (?), here's another one we agree on. This was much better than Ishiguro's colossally overrated Never Let Me Go. But maybe not quite as good as Ubik. ;-)
Be careful or you're going to become a Science-Fiction fan!

I had no idea E.M.Forster dipped his pen and saw the future! How clever he was. But not half as much fun as your ;) review. Thanks for putting another book on the great and terrible heap!
