Shayla Nuttall Just watched the trailer. The ending was the best part! When they get sucked up into the spaceship. :)

Lauren Eaton WHAT DA HECK?!?!?!?!?! What's with da freaking spaceship-he doesn't get abducted.

message 4: by Majo (new)

Majo I totally agree with you!!!!, It's a really good book, but the trailer doesn't seem right.

Laura I agree, I think they pulled the space ship stuff from The White Mountains/ The City of Gold and Lead/ The Pool of Fire / When the Tripods Came series by John Christopher. It would have made more sense and made a larger impact to the audience to leave the whole of the film in black and white until he began seeing in color.

sami I agree

message 7: by Sammy (new)

Sammy I actually think it should be in black and white and then when Jonas starts to see color it slowly transforms to that. Of course that would be pretty old fashioned.
And the movie is just based on the book. So it will be somewhere along the lines of The Giver but very different then the actual book.

message 8: by Kevin (new)

Kevin That would be amazing. Great idea!!!

message 9: by Micah (new)

Micah Carter Even the actor that plays Jonas doesn't have blue eyes?

Nikki Watch this trailer with black and white scenes incorporated: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwN_H...

Michelle Narvaez you stole the words directly from my mouth!I have a feeling this is not going to go down as planned.... :/

message 12: by Inês (new)

Inês about the color: since their memories of certain concepts have been erased, neither of those persons knows what color his, specially jonas. Now when he goes to the giver, there is a time that the giver gives him the memorie of colors and Jonas learn it, so you start see colors because you've learn the concept... now at least they've put in the movie.... but i wished that they followed more the book.... but i'm still ginna see it anyway XDD

Cal Jonas is 12 in the book? Anyway, adjustments have to been to fit the cinema I guess...
I pictured the Giver to be much much older and more hunched over and weary.

Well, I'll have to see for myself.. on the bright side, Meryl Streep's in it!
