Exactly..The author could've used it to justify 'Shiva the destroyer' tag. But it's really incongruous, considering Shiva was adamant on sticking to rules and considered the war as a dharmyudh..

When in the mythology, Sati dies, Shiva is taken into grief and does nothing. nothing at all. There are other stories when Shiva got so angry that he all hell bent on destroying whatever came to face him. Remember the decapitation of Ganesha? I humbly disagree with the point.
