The last paragraph shouldn't have been italicized. Stupid html.
I would think that modifying memories would be harder than wiping memories. (Like repairing something instead of throwing it away). But then, they were transfiguring objects long before they were vanishing them, and I would expect vanishing would be easier than transfiguring for the same reason.
Either way, I guess if they're different spells than it's not really a discrepancy. Thanks for answering Naomi. And thanks for asking, Eliza. I've wondered that myself.
