Maybe that's why I didn't like it. I waited until I was 28 to read it. :)
I'm 31 I borrowed this from the library yesterday having never read it and never thinking I would read it - I'm flying through it and I absolutely love it. I don't thing being older is a barrier to the enjoyment of this novel.
Well Julie I said what I said for effect, obviously you're entitled to enjoy whatever you want without me casting aspersions about maturity. As a bookseller I read across all age ranges and find enjoyment OR NOT regardless. However the point to be made is that there are books that will resonate to a greater degree at certain stages in a persons life. For instance I've recently read Stegner'e Crossing to Safety which is in large part an elegy to two couples friendship over a lifetime. While a (mature) 15 year old might find it illuminating, in the way all good literature does, they won't have had the life experiences needed to fully appreciate the book.
You might be enjoying Catcher in part because it reminds you of being younger or perhaps because you have an angsty teenager living in the house. Whatever, personally I don't know that I'd have the patience to read it now.
But please you go on loving it.
