I definitely agree with what you're saying regarding persistence. The spike on the wall where he posted rejection after rejection until he finally started selling is a great image, especially for new writers who are having so much trouble actually establishing themselves.
It's not so useful as a craft book, but it's a wonderful read if you're looking at the necessary mindset involved in becoming a writer and sticking with it long enough to actually see some success.
