Annemarie Donahue The only problem with listening to a book instead of reading is that the actor reading has made a decision for the listener about tone of voice and inflection. Example, I listened to The Book Thief and only heard "zhoucal" and "zhoumensch" as terms of endearment because the actor said them that way. It was clear to me that the mother was abrasive but loving. When I got to school other teachers didn't hear that and thought the mother was really cruel but slowly warmed up to Leisel. So there was a decision made for me as a reader. That's the only danger I can think of, and so far no one has mentioned it. :)
