Hopkins is my touchstone for the character. I didn't realize it was a novel before seeing Silence Of The Lambs, so that has really informed my conception of the characters. Normally I make a point to read the source before seeing a film.....

Yes, in my opinion the best of the bunch. Even better is Tom Noonan performance as red dragon. It is a Michael Mann film and does have look of a Miami Vice episode, but I think its great.
