Yea it did. I like to hear what my younger son has to say about the book still. He pointed out, 'The tree is sad because the boy left, but she's happy when he is there.' I found this to be quite profound. Sometimes we don't think our little ones will understand the things they do. Even if the idea is not fully formulated he is starting to understand that material things are not where the happiness comes from, its the time spent with those special people. That's how we read "The Giving Tree".
