I know absolutely nobody that talks this way. The only people I've ever heard speak like that are caricatures of a type of people in movies or books. Yes, there are some that are like Stevie Rae to an extent, but not to the degree she is portrayed in these books.

Also, homosexuality equality is in its infancy here in the US and we are not at all as advanced socially as other countries. There are Kudos to be had for the folks that make it a good and accepted aspect of YA fiction.

I think it's fascinating to see America through the eyes of folks not living here, but accents aside, I doubt we're much different than any other teenager around the world.

OMG I thought I was alone in how young they make Jack seem. Like I feel like he is so much younger then their group it feels awkward.
