As far as I can tell it doesn't mention him dying it just mentions him walking away in the middle of the night before Days birthday, and saying something like "and that's the last time I saw my dad" at the end of the chapter.

Maybe he'll be in the third book, I think he probably escaped into the colonies as he was working on the warfront.

that's what I was thinking, that maybe his dad will have heard of Day's appearance in the colonies and maybe go try and find him o.o

yea me too but then i started thinking about allllll the things that are gunna need to be explained in champion, i thought about his dad :) because don't you think it's weird that, when Day was explaining the last time he ever saw his dad, that his Dad left unexpectadly without telling anyone o.o maybe his dad knew something they didnt and he just left and now he's gunna make an epic comeback (hopefully) ^-^ since Day has officially been seen and spotted in the colonies and all.
