Brandi In my own opinion, every author has bad days...or bad books at it were. A series that has a lot of books can't always reach the standards that every reader thinks they should because we're basing them on our preferences and she's basing them on hers. I have read a lot of large paranormal series including Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter and Christine Feehan's Dark Series and there are books there that I won't pick up again, but it hasn't turned me away from the series as a whole because of those other books that I love.

The only thing we can do, as fans, is to have faith in her ability to listen to the readers and give them what we want. Her making Quay's book is a step in the right direction. That means she's actually hearing us.

Something I might suggest if you're leary about buying the book...if you have a Nook, get someone to lend it to you so you can read it or find someone that buys the book and see if they will let you borrow it. When you truly enjoy an author though, don't let a few bad choices change how much you enjoy the series as a whole. :) Just my advice on it. Take care.

Libbie Those books are very rarely lendable (at least not on Kindle - which is what I use as an eReader.)

I totally agree that some authors have hits and misses in series, its the nature of the beast. (I love the DH series too - and even tho some haven't been ones I'll re-read, there were always elements to the story I liked, even though the main plot didn't grab me...like Stryker's book.)

In my opinion, though, she's listening to her fans too much. What was supposed to be Payne's story...wasn't. It was V and Jane's second book (during which she contradicted her own reader's guide) made up mostly of a manufactured fight between the bonded couple to get a scene with Butch and V that was sexual in nature even if no actual sex took place. She, by her own admission, cut a vital scene that resulted in a huge inconsistency. She introduced a whole new set of characters rather than focus on already established ones (the Murhder substory she started in JM's book; JM and Xhex, and their unknown to them connection) and so on.

I carried on after Phury, and then Rhev. By the time Payne's let me down so hard after so much anticipation, I was done and it was time for me to move on and away. When I was censored for stating the above issues on her message boards, that was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I hope you continue to enjoy the series, though! I'm not trying to pull anyone away, or talk down something loved by others - just clarifying. Peace out =)

Danielle If Ward doesn't do Q&B's book right, I might actually drop the series. This is Wards chance to give the readers what so many of us have been hoping for (Qhuinn and Blay to finally be together) and, as an author, it's her chance to do something amazing-tackle a controversial subject in a book meant for general public intrest. I hope she didn't tone it down so it doesn't read like everyone else's books. Anxiously waiting to see...

Danielle I bought the book, preordered it actually and I'm happy I did. I have to admit I had some problems with it-like their story taking forever and the ending was a bit abrupt, but I liked it none the less. I thought it was worth reading.
