I have always heard of this book but never read it. What's it about?
It's a historical romance about a very selfish and determined young girl (hence the GWTW comparisons) having to survive in 17th century England on her own. It includes some important historical events such as the plague and The Great Fire of London.
The novel itself also has an interesting history- when it was published in 1944, it was banned by 14 states as pornography due to sex scenes and other scandalous subjects. It WAS perhaps a little bit trashy, but I absolutely loved it and it'll always be on my reread pile! :)
