Too true. If you cannot gain the public's consent, then play their fears until you are their only option. Hitler did this, with catastrophic consequences. And not only did it affect the Jew and Germans, but also the rest of the world that fought in the war. Many of WWII veterans would never speak of their horrifying experiences, and have nightmares of reliving the war. It was horrific.
