I enjoyed your input on the story! I also agree with you on a lot of your points.
I agree with you on the fact that if the author were to add on to the story that it would center around Sloane and Rhys trying to find refuge. However at the end of the novel I was expecting Sloane to try and walk right out of the truck and let the zombie have her. To me she sounded emotionally drained and just done with it all, now that almost all of the people she cared about died. I thought she was going to go through with what she wanted to do in the first place.
To be honest I became very emotional and cried when Grace and her brother Trace died. It was really sad. I had no idea Trace was going to shoot himself, it shocked me. But I do like how he apologized to Sloane for what he did to her. I think he wanted to die in peace, he wanted to be forgiven for what he had done wrong. Once Sloane forgave him, I think he realized it was his time to go. That he would be back with his family instead in that hell, or one of the infected.
My favorite part was the same as yours. I liked how Sloane wanted to make sure Rhys lived, she didn't want to take him down with her.
I also found the beginning was really interesting, her whole family life. Like how her sister left her and her father beat her. I thought it was different and held so much meaning, to every action she made.
