Kudos, Donna. Although I don't know her background, I suspect we have a great deal in common. (I was tortured and witnessed serial torture when I was 10-12 year of age in an orphanage.) I've gotten a great deal out of analyzing this book. I think the story is loaded with mental health material. I'd encourage you to write a paper (or a story) about your teaching experience with it. You had a experience that others can learn from. Perpaps if the book were taught more from a mental health perspective we'd have fewer school shootings.
