Agreed, Judith. Haven't read Bring Up the Bodies, but just bought it (I live in an island where books, good books, are hard to come by) and I'm very much looking forward to it.
It's not you. I don't get it either. Can't tell who's speaking, every time the story starts to go somewhere it goes off on a tangent and never comes back. I prefer complete sentences and a story that has a point. I got 25% of the way through (Kindle reader) and quit... and I never quit on a book.
I too loved every word. I read it along with a girl friend who felt the same, and we commented by e mail every day about the language, interesting turn of phrase, etc. Started to explore the tapestries, Holbein, Austin Friar and more. We read BUTB the same way. But, there are book out there for everyone, I hated Goldfinch and that is probably still on the best seller list.
